for contributors
Land
Contamination & Reclamation publishes original research and review
papers on the environmental, technical and public health issues relating
to the contamination and remediation of soil and groundwater, together
with coverage of legal, public policy and commercial aspects. Contributions
are invited in the form of research papers, case studies, and regional
and thematic reviews. The journal also welcomes informal articles or press
releases for inclusion in the Bulletin section.
Papers
should be complete accounts of work which has special significance and
must be presented clearly and concisely. Papers are usually between 2000
and 5000 words, although longer papers can be accommodated. Articles for
the 'Bulletin' should not exceed 2000 words.
Only
contributions not submitted or published elsewhere can be accepted for
review. Authors should refer to the publisher if in doubt. Authors are
responsible for the originality of their texts. Authors are encouraged
to suggest potential referees. Manuscripts should be submitted to one

Copyright
A copyright transfer form should be submitted with each paper. The corresponding
author should obtain co-authors' signatures. The form is available from
the publisher and can be downloaded from www.epppublications.com. For
authors not wishing to transfer copyright, an exclusive licence form is
also available.
Format
All papers should be submitted in English, on a CD or email attachment
in Microsoft Word, double-spaced, with all illustrations and tables. Pages
should be numbered. Manuscripts may be edited for clarity and grammar.
Proofs are sent to authors before publication.
The following should be included:
the title (and a short title of about 45 characters, if main title is
longer);
authors' names and affiliations, and contact information for the
corresponding author;
an abstract of not more than 300 words;
a list of key words in alphabetical order;
any relevant acknowledgements.
The
papers should follow the sequence: title, author(s), abstract, key words,
introduction, methods, results, discussion, conclusions, references, acknowledgements.
Authors should keep a copy. The publisher cannot accept responsibility
for loss of or damage to material submitted.
Illustrations
Avoid files that are optimized for screen use (e.g. GIF, BMP, PICT). Resolution
should be at least 300 DPI for photos and halftones, and 1200 DPI for
line illustrations. Colour art should be saved as CMYK. A printout of
the illustrations should be included. All illustrations should be numbered
and labelled, and the top of the illustration indicated. Figures should
be numbered in the order cited in the text. Figures will often be reduced
the type size of any text in a figure should take this into account.
References
In the text, give the author(s) and year of publication in parentheses
e.g. (Salter 1992) and list references in alphabetical order, by author,
at the end of the paper. When citing a string of references, they should
be listed chronologically. For references in the text, if there are more
than two authors give the first author followed by et al. Add a
or b after the year of publication if citing more than one
item published by the same author in the same year, or if citing multiauthor
works with the same first author published in the same year.
In
the list of references et al. should only be used if a publication
has more than six authors. References should appear in the following forms:
